Seen in the City!

John Corbett AKA Aidan from Sex and the City hung in the back bar at Cabana’s Monday night. Steph spies say he was with another guy pal for several hours. Report- “His salt n’ pepper hair looks good. He is cute, but he opened the curtain of a private Cabana and come off a little pompous to a group of girls.”

Tuesday Lauren Conrad, reality star from The Hills and now author, signed copies of her book L.A. Candy at Davis-Kidd in Green Hills. Apparently a slew of fans came out for the signing. Despite telling reporters she was leaving town , Lauren was spotted at the upstairs bar at Bound’ry. Steph spies say she was with two other gals, sipping a Margarita and eating shrimp & grits (a true Southern dish). Yum!

Monday Night Football shoot; behind the scenes with Hank & Gloria

I got take part in the excitement at Nashville’s Centennial park Monday, as the video opening for Monday Night Football on ESPN was shot. It was a who’s who of casted talent including; Jennifer Foley AKA The Watson’s Girl, Jolene Youngster from the Action Nissan commercials and one of the local guys that was booted from Make Me a Supermodel. Most all of us were crowd members, a few guys were painted in Gold like Heisman trophies, and an additional 200 or so walk-up extras also got to take part. It was a long day in the hot sun, until we got to move inside the Parthenon for filming. Inside, the University of Tennessee’s dance Team shook their tales off behind Hank Williams Jr. & Gloria Estefan.

Gloria was cute as could be, dressed in her fitted Dolphins jersey. The singer chatted between takes about her special cosmo recipe she whooped up on Fathers day. She was in good spirits, despite the air going out on her bus earlier in the day.

This is the 21st year in a row that Bocephus has kicked off football on Monday nights. The country singer wore a claw around his neck from a 13 foot alligator. He bragged to the crowd, “I don’t shop for this stuff at Wal Mart.” He was also rocking his Gucci sunglasses, which at one point he declared “Let get this thing going, my Gucci’s are fogging up.”

Gloria & Hank lip synched the opening with Hank throwing in his Spanish skills. In between takes Bocephus kept the crowd entertained with songs like Family Tradition and even a rap song, in which he gave props to his bud Kid Rock.

Some of the super-fans that were able to get in for the shoot bolted out “Take a pic with me” and he did. Another yelled out “I’m a taxidermist, lets work together. Give me a call.” It was pretty entertaining.

I don’t think I got much face-time, but ESPN did interview Brooke Sanders (pictured) and me so who knows. The shoot wrapped up around midnight and continues Tuesday for the exterior shots. They stil need extras so head on down if ya like. This is the 40th season of Monday night football, pretty cool they shot the opening in Nashville.

Albert was not only celebrating his birthday, but the football star is packing up and leaving for Washington in a few weeks. Vince Young, Jevon Kearse & Keith Bulluck are just a few of the TItans that came out to party with Albert. Big Fella MC’d the event , while Ladies strutted their stuff poolside in bikin’s by Heather Robinson. One swimsuite doned Haynesworth’s name & number.

Jenni & Ony, along with Nashville Lifestyles hosted the farewell party & birthday gathering dubbed The Good Life. A portion of the proceeds went to Women Rock for the Cure.

Bonnaroo 2009 wrap: backstage & celeb sightings

Somehow it works out every year for all my pals to get the hook-up at Bonnaroo and this year was no exception. Sporting the artist pass known as “That Pass” around my neck, I got to experience Roo the best way one can. The artist tent served 3 free hot meals a day with; steaks, smoothies, iced lattes and everything yummy. There was also the all you want to drink tent with liquor and beer, free giveaways at nearly a dozen booths and ice cream from the Ice Cream Man all weekend. Most of the pics above are from the artist tent. Highlights there- included nearly every artist coming by for food or goods, a performance by MGMT in the Ice Cream Man truck, two little kids playing like street performers and a photo area featuring free Onitsuka Tiger shoes.

Day one I checked out the DJ Academy, where DJ Sugar Ray & DJ Exess helped me lay down my best beats, which I definitely need some more work on. Next we checked out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (pictured). There was a slight technical problem, leading them to perform Maps acoustically. After, I went to the presser featuring; Lucinda Williams, Justin Townes Earle, Bon Iver, Justin Vernon, Portugal. The Man and The Low Anthem (all pictured). Lu talked about how it wasn’t her first Bonnaroo and how much she loves the festival. Beastie Boys rocked my face Friday night, with a special appearance by Naz. My group nearly lost our voices singing Paul Revere. The boys came out for a finale with Sabotage. Our next stop was to see Flava Flav and his group, Public Enemy. I though the show was mediocre, but that’s where we first spotted Drew Barrymore & her bf Justin Long. Drew’s face was painted with glitter. They danced around in the front for a bit, but scooted out as people began recognizing the celeb couple. Later that night, we checked out Pretty Lights and then Girl Talk, where people were climbing ropes and sliding in mud with a full on dance party. My Friday festivities wrapped up with more booty shaking at The Silent Disco. This was my first time to actually go in to experience The Silent Disco. The spot looks funny from the outside, as only those who come in can hear the music on headphones. It was awesome. However, heading to sleep in a tent at 5:30 in the morning doesn’t work so well. It wasn’t long before the sun came beating in.

I had to regroup from Friday’s festivities with a massage in the artist tent, it was so worth it! Not long later I made it out for Jimmy Buffet’s performance. Surprisingly it wasn’t too crowded, making it easy to get up front. Jimmy said he was opening with something spiritual in case we didn’t make it to church Sunday and then went into Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw. Later we headed out to listen to the festival headliner, Bruce Springsteen. The Boss utilized the photo area making his was down through the crowd, collecting signs for requests. The first request he played, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I wrapped my evening up with NIN, Ben Harper some incredible burlesque at the Sonic Stage and MGMT. MGMT was packed; Bruce, Drew and Justin all made it out for their show. Bruce made another appearance Sunday, jamming Mustang Sally with Phish.

Among the others pictured- Ethan Oharra, Anna Pardenik, Dan Fancher & Rychel Loo, Kevin Bevil of Heypenny , Emily Dickerson, Josh Hayes & Libby Callaway shooting fashion for Vogue, the ladies of Gypsy Hands, Stephanie Powers, Shaun Bertrand & pals, Lolly & Larry the Panty Boy, Angela Morris Bobby Bare Jr., Beatle Bob, Joel Wilson as an astronaut and oh so many more. Pic of Drew and Justin credit- Just Jared.

Beatsie Boys & Naz seen in the city!

Quick report- Steph spies say that the Beastie Boys and Naz are hanging at South Street as I type. I hope to have more of a report later.

Rumors were flying earlier that they would be playing a secret show at Grimey’s tonight, but Mike Grimes confirms that it is just that- a rumor. You may remember Metallica performed last year at the small venue. That’s probably how the rumor got started. Beastie Boys are scheduled to perform at Bonnaroo Friday night.

Seen in the City~

The Kings of Leon are still kicking it back home in Nashville, before heading out to the UK. Lead singer Caleb Followill and his beautiful model girlfriend Lily Aldridge were spotted having a dinner date at Lime Wednesday night. Later on that night, they joined the rest of the band for shuffleboard at Losers.

Country singer Shooter Jennings was spotted at the Rite Aid on West End
with his wife, actress Drea de Matteo.

There are a ton of country music stars downtown this weekend for the CMA music fest and several surprise guests/shows keep popping up. I heard some fans were able to get in on the action as country singer Kellie Pickler shot with ABC at Rippey’s Wednesday.

Later Wednesday night, country star Brad Paisley performed for a crowd at Fuel.

Taylor Swift studio in Hendersonville?

CMA festivities are well underway in Downtown Nashville and I have a scoop on one of the LP Field headliners! A Steph Spy tells me that country star Taylor Swift has herself a new studio in Hendersonville. A little bit of research shows that 13 Management, LLC bought the spot in Hendersonville. That also happens to be the name of the company that currently owns www.taylorswift.com. Does that mean Taylor owns it? No, not necessarily… but it looks like her “people” do.

Sources tell me the company paid a whopping $781,000 for the former Wayne Turner Real Estate building. Could country music be recession proof?

Word on the street is there are no building signs and they don’t plan on putting any up. Apparently, people always going in and out of the building with guitar bags. You heard it here first!

Meantime, TMZ is reporting that the 19-year-old darling rehearsed with rapper T-Pain in Nashville Tuesday. Could this be a CMA surprise duo… or maybe even a CMT Awards performance next Tuesday night? We shall see.

Taylor will be playing LP Field Sunday night, along with John Rich and Kenny Chesney.

I’m glad Taylor has come this far and still stays so humble. I remember being one of her 1st TV interviews… it was too cute, her mom came and snapped pictures.

Kings of Leon Seen in the City~

Looks like international rock superstars, King of Leon are spending their few weeks off back home in Nashville. Fresh off the heels of the MTV Movie Awards, the guys touched down in Music City Tuesday. Lead singer, Caleb Followill, was spotted having some cocktails with 2 other pals at the Patterson House later on Tuesday night.

The band is scheduled to play two sold out shows in London, kicking off June 15th. Hopefully we will see them out and about a bit more in the meantime. Nashville will also get a chance to check The Kings of Leon out at the Sommet Center on October 16th. The venue is quite a step up from the Municipal Auditorium, where the brothers played last November. Tickets for the Sommet show go on sale June 20.

It was just five years ago, when I scored Bonnaroo passes to sell merch for these guys. At the time, none of us had really heard of them. It’s crazy how the Kings have exploded and I love it for them.

Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Mel Tillis and more party at Tootsie’s!

Folks raved about the Jamey Johnson (“In Color,” “High Cost Of Living”) and Randy Houser (“Anything Goes,” “Boots On”) Ryman Auditorium show last Thursday night, but what happened after the show? The guy’s celebrated with a spirited after-party at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.

The Ryman sold-out concert, “ raised money for the Opry Trust Fund. New artist Jerrod Niemann opened the show as ‘Judge Jerrod and The Hung Jury.’ After the “Traler Park Revival Show” concert, country stars and music industry VIP’s left the Ryman and headed to the infamous back entrance of Tootsies where they posed for photos.

In the packed back room of the bar, Jerrod Niemann got the party started. Then country fans were treated to a special duet when Jamey Johnson took the stage in the front room with country legend, Mel Tillis, as the two performed “Detroit City.”

I’m told things really got wild as Jerrod Niemann, Jake Owen, Chris Young, Lee Brice, and Dallas Davidson sang a very lively version of “Family Tradition” which had the house singing along with the chorus.
