Urban Arts Bizarre is a success!
Hundreds gathered at The Arcade in downtown Nashville last Thursday night, including Mayor Karl Dean, for the Urban Arts Bizarre. Gallery doors were opened as live music, Playing by Air jugglers, The Spinderellas hula hoopers, members of the Nashville Rollergirls, Miss Lolly Pop’s Burlesque Coterie and other street performers entertained the crowd. Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School set up shop for artists to sketch live posed performers. In which I had the honor of partaking in.
The benefit helped raise money for ARTDOCS (Artists Receiving Treatment Doctors Offering Crucial Services). The new nonprofit organization in Nashville provides healthcare services to uninsured artists, performers and writers.
ARTDOCS was created by Jonathan Ferrara, a gallery owner who saw the need in his hometown of New Orleans and has since expanded to Nashville.
Among those pictured- Larry “The Panty Boy,” Leela Sophina, Jacob Weis juggling, 2-foot Fred, Ryan Gray AKA Kitti Lee and Trent & Casey Summar
