Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock & The Wailers play Tootsies!

You know CMA week has begun in Music City when A-list artists like Kenny Chesney take over small honky tonks like Tootsies. The country star is known for playing small bars, but more known for selling out stadiums. Monday night he played a “private show” at the back bar on Broadway, but don’t be misled the place was packed like sardines. I still managed to get in the front row, but not without a fight from fans.

After about thirty minutes, Kenny brought The Wailers out on stage who launched right into No Women No Cry (one of my favs). They band followed up with I Shot The Sheriff and continued down my favorite list of old Bob Marley songs.

Not long later, Kid Rock appeared. He watched from the outside patio in the back corner for a while, but Kenny eventually got him to come out and join in on One Love.

“If I can’t sing Wednesday night then you know why, I’d rather be singing now anyway,” Kenny joked over the microphone about CMA night.

Meantime, a few doors down, actor/new country singer Kevin Costner played The Stage. A true sign that this is Music City folks and CMA week is just getting started. Oh boy!
