Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman come out for #1 party~
Nashville’s favorite couple, Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman came out to BMI to celebrate and honor the trio of songwriters behind his hit song “You Look Good In My Shirt” Monday afternoon. Keith showed up a bit late for the party full of Music City’s movers and shakers. Once he took the podium Keith explained that he was sorry for being late, that he had been working in the studio.
He stood among the crowd, sipping on a glass of white wine a wine glass with something clear ice water in it beside his superstar wife while those behind the song were honored including, new Songwriters Hall of Fame member Tom Shapiro, Mark Nelser and Tony Martin.
Afterward, Nicole was nice enough to pose for loads of pictures with fans. She looked gorgeous with her hair pulled up (as usual), black skinny jeans, black flats and a black sweater.
Keith thanked Nicole on the microphone, proclaiming the award was for both of them “and you do look good in my shirt… or without it,” Keith giggled.
UPDATE: I have confirmed that Keith was drinking ice water. I honestly didn’t think anything about it when I posted it, but now we all know. Again, I meant no disrespect.

Stephanie, Please think about what you wrote about Keith drinking white wine. The man is a recovering alcoholic. I doubt he would be sipping white wine. Perhaps a non alcoholic drink of cider or a non alcoholic drink that looked like white wine. Please have some respect.

Stephanie, I am glad to hear that you meant no disrespect to Mr. Urban but why state that in your column in the first place, when what he drinks has nothing to do with the recognition he & the other writers received today? it has zero relevance to the story especially when you have no idea what he was drinking. Were you there & tasted what was in his glass?

Did you ever think of it as being some type of herb tea to help his voice? This sounds like the time Nicole was WRONGLY accused of drinking while pregnant at the Oscars because she drank lemon zinger tea out of a wine glass.

Get a grip people- she was just reporting what she saw. Maybe alcohol wasnt really the problem like some were led to believe? Reguardless, it doesnt matter.
Let the man enjoy his honor without all the baloney that comes with the scrutiny of his fans ( Monkeys ). And please, who really cares about what Nicole Kidman drank at the Oscars? Cant Keith ever MATTER anymore on his own? I for one dont need to hear who he is married to every frickin minute. Its getting really really old!!

jealous of his wife???? hardly. i could never stand up to the comments that ugly people write about her. she is a better woman than me. i too am a monkey and darn proud of it which is the reason that i will read about her and smile because she is what keeps him happy content and grounded and i thank her for that. and to steph…that is so NOT a sincere apology since you twisted it around still to make someone doubt him. i for one do not doubt keith. he isn’t stupid. so save your “i mean no disrespect”..i don’t buy it. you should write for the enquirer…they love that kind of stuff. keith fans don’t fall for it. what kind of glass were YOU drinking from??

Keith and Nicole are married, have a baby and obviously intend to remain married. The fans needs to realize that Nicole is Keith’s wife and Keith is Nicole husband. If you want one you get the other. And, without the other neither one would be where they are today. As for Keith drinking alcohol, it would not be a smart thing to consume alcohol with the press all around would it? Keith has said many times that if he’d continued on the path he was on with the alcohol he would have lost his career and his marriage. He’s too smart of a man to risk his life and livelihood for a drink.

It’s getting really old and tired. He did the same at the Opry. I am slowly losing respect for a man, who I once thought was terrific ! She is not a princess or a god. It upsetting to hear Keith fans being mean about Nicole. I would have thought you guys respected him enough as a artist and a person too at least be kind about his wife. Thank god there is only a minorty of people who are ’sick of hearing’ about her. Nicole is part of Keith now and him part of her. They are obviously so in love and im so happy for them. & Keith can talk about her until the cows come home as far as im concerned. I love hearing about her and how much he loves her, because she deserves it and vice versa. Why should you give so much respect to a person that you don’t even know? In the real world, just because you like someone whether it is a friend, co-worker, neighbor, or whomever, doesn’t mean that you automatically have to like their spouse. They are two individual people with two different personalities. I was never a fan of Kidman’s - ever. She tells lies in every interview she does, and doesn’t keep Keith’s life private, as he claims to want. She recently claims to only be away from Keith for seven days because her heart aches - does it ache for Bella & Connor too? I mean she’s away from them a lot longer than that, but fails to mention that in interviews!

And who really cares if he gets drunk every night of the week? It’s nobody’s business if he does, including Nicole’s. How old is the lad, that he needs more mothers than Carter’s has liver pills. “This is our award”. He actually managed to tie this song to her. She had NOTHING to do with this song - it was not written by him and it was not written about her. How about thanking the fans who kept this song alive for years? The fans who tried to get it on the charts years ago, the same fans who know every word and sang it at every concert they went to. That is why it took 3 years before Keith had a number 1 on the charts. Fans are leaving in droves because he is leaving us…

I am so sick and tired of Nicole Kidman being tied to everything Keith does. She was not around when he put this song on Golden Road so how the hell can it be about her? He is going to continue to push his fans away with all of this “blah, blah it’s for her” crap. What about the fans that put you on the top Keith?
And no, I am NOT jealous of Nicole Kidman. She can have Keith at this point. I sure as heck don’t want a whipped, greasy looking, purse carrying, drivel of a man. I was lucky enough to see Keith in his prime and I cherish every moment.

AMEN SISTER…..Tied yet another song to this witch…..Jealous?? Hell no……I just want the talented performer that I’ve seen over two dozen times….Let’s hope that the rest of the CD is like the first single “Sweet Thing” and there are no mentions of his “saviour” and/or the “marriage”…..Glad he has a #1 song again…maybe that will make him think about what he puts on the new record….

Hum, lets see, I do believe the last upscale establishment that I went to served water in a short stemed glass, and where also serving other drinks in regular glasses. Narrow mined people always look for something to pick at. Maybe if you tell Keith you are tired of hearing him talk about his wife, he will stop, ya think! Fact is you just would NOT look good in his shirt and he wouldn’t thinks so! As for his tying his wife to his songs the way he did the entire 07-08 tour I just guess you will have to take the dislike up with the sellout crowds. “Much better to be a Monkey, than a Monkey’s ASS” (Take what applys to you and leave the rest)

I have often drank water from wine glasses at special occasions. But I hope before you post something such as this next time you think of actually asking people who may know before jumping to conclusions that can HURT people & as you see on your own site can such unwarranted hate toward another person. Too bad an artist’s wife can’t accompany him to an event without people getting hot and bothered. If she wasn’t there, the same people would be saying she didn’t care enough to go and support him. She did nothing to steal the spotlight. Blame the people who were fussing over her because she’s a celebrity It was obvious that Keith enjoyed having her there.
In a recent interview she said Keith says it’s not YOUR movie or MY tour, it’s OUR movie, OUR tour. So that’s why he called YLGIMS “OUR award.” Anyway he did release the new version that hit #1 after they were married. Great to see the pictures.

I’m so glad Keith and Nicole found each other. It is so funny how jealous you women are of Nicole. Brad Paisley writes songs about his wife and even puts her in his videos and his fans are very supportive of his happiness with his marriage. His wife even hosted the ACM country awards this year. Keith has some extremely evil/hateful fans. You’d rather see him single, drunk and whoring around with many dif woman than happily married. At least Keith knows how to have a successful marriage unlike the 4 month failed marriage of selfish Kenny Chesney. Keith’s last album had some of the best vocals of his career on it and that’s why he won the 2008 Grammy for male vocalist, but you all call the album a failure. Guess the album wasn’t “fluffy” enough for you. Keith always thanks his fans and I’m sure he did this time as well. Nicole encouraged him to record “Stupid Boy” and that song won him a Grammy. But how dare he thank her for that! Also, Nicole’s co-stars adore her. Just ask Shirley MaClaine or Lauren Bacall. Two strong women that adore Nicole!

I don’t even know what to write about some of the very ugly, nasty comments written about Keith thanking his wife. They are married and share a life and child together. They are in love and best friends. It makes Keith seem like a much nicer, better human to be a great family man as well as a super talent. Some of you need to grow up and get over it. Keith has found and chosen his life partner.Would you really want Keith to not bring his wife to things that are important to him? I also adore Nic and am so grateful to her for making Keith so happy, and I am grateful to Keith for making Nic so happy. Be happy for them, please. We would all be lucky to have such a loving spouse.

Steph – I’m glad you finally clarified that Keith actually sipped ice water in a wine glass. But seriously, if you are really not being disrespectful of Keith, why not just completely delete the words “a glass of white wine” instead of leaving them on the blog with strike-throughs. To me, it just seems like you are determined to raise questions, and you made sure those words are still visible to your readers.
I personally think you totally miscalculated when you printed those words in the first place. What were you hoping to accomplish? Were you hoping that the national and worldwide press might pick up your malicious inference that Keith is drinking again, and therefore get some worldwide recognition of your blog? If so, you’re sadly mistaken! By focusing on something malicious and unsubstantiated, you completely missed out on something that would be of interest to the worldwide press, i.e. the very sweet and loving interaction between Keith and his wife: his playful “shirt” comments about his wife and her response of holding his face between her hands and kissing him on the lips. I’m sure if you were there, you would have witnessed it. But you conveniently omitted the kissing part from your blog. People Online smartly included that in their story, and subsequently other national and foreign press sites quoted their story.

I think Keith’s fans are just sick and tired of every event being about Nicole, instead of celebrating Keith’s own amazing talents. Every interview has to contain a statement of how amazing Nicole is and how she saved his life.
Everyone knows that if a person is to be saved, it is the person themself that has to make the change, noone can make anyone do anything unless they want too…
But things really have gone beyond the joke when it comes to Keith and Nicole.
I am sure that none of his fans begrudge him finding love and happiness.But must we always have her shoved in our faces as being his reason for everything?
So many people have supported and forgiven keith’s misgivings, why is it only her that gets credit for it?
I really don’t see other entertainers consistantly going on and on about their spouse as he does.
He is becoming as sickening as Tom cruise jumping up and down on a couch, proclaiming his love.
Maybe this is why Keith has too keep going on about nicole?
She doesn’t want to feel second best to Katie, so Keith has to keep on appeasing her?
I also wonder why on the linar notes of his latest CD, he places nicoles, parents and sister and her sisters children before his own step children?
Are they more important than the love of his life’s children?
I find this to be a very sad thing indeed.
Seems he has taken on Nicoles own twisted idea of who takes priority in their life.
When he married her, he fired much of his staff, staff that had to much influence on Keith, and who had been with keith for many many years, people who were too honest with Keith.
I feel this is a strong indication of just how much influence Nicole has on Keith’s business and career.
Now days noone else matters , This is not jealousy, this is pure facts.
Keith was adored by many for his down to earth character, his relation with the common man, and his will power to battle through hard times.Now he shows himself as a weak and very controlled brainwashed rich boy.
