Bone Bash & Funky Good Times kick off adult Halloween parties~

The Arthritis Foundation Bone Bash at the Cannery Ballroom kicked off my Halloween festivities early this year. The event Thursday pulled in hundreds of costumed party peeps and featured the Michael Jackson Tribute Band ‘Who’s Bad.’ Hugh Howser pulled off an exact Reba look alike, while Tina Turner sported moves that won her a Michael Jackson glove. In the past, the affair has raised more than $90,000 for arthritis in middle TN.

Next we hit up Funky Good Times at Cabana for their Halloween fiasco, which drew a solid crowd costumed dancers. The geisha gal took home best costume, alongside MC Hammer. Heather Byrd was a wind up dolly and I was a carnival performer with my new LED hula hoop.

I hope you have a fun & safe Halloween; I can’t wait to see everyone tonight at Agave.

Titans fans rock code blue!

What do ya know- the Titans are 7-0. That’s right Peyton Manning could stop the NFL’s only undefeated team Monday night. Some 70,000 fans came out to LP Field see the Titans beat the Colts, 31-21 and the crowd energy was some of the highest I’ve seen. There were costumes galore, even the cheerleaders dressed up as their favorite characters.

I couldn’t see one empty seat in the house as the night of special inductions and performances unfolded. Hank Williams Jr. brought the crowd out of their seats after singing the National anthem.

Thanks Dad for treating me to your awesome PSL’s and thanks to First Response for the fried bologna! Yummy!

Reese Witherspoon to present at CMA Awards~

Reese Witherspoon is coming home for the CMA Awards. The Academy Award-winning actress is the first presenter announced for “The 42nd Annual CMA Awards” here in Nashville.

You may remember Reese appeared at the CMA Awards in 2005, with Joaquin Phoenix to promote Walk the Line.

Officials also announced today that Nominees Rodney Atkins and Kellie Pickler have been added as performers. They join previously announced performers- co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, along with Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and The Wailers, the Eagles, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.

The CMA Awards air live from the Sommet Center Nov 12th on ABC.

Vandy brings the best for homecoming: Lil’ Wayne & Lupe Fiasco

Over the past few years, Vanderbilt University has been bringing in the top rappers & performers for homecoming and this year was no different. Kanye West was the guest last year and this year it was Lil’ Wayne that brought the juice to Memorial Gymnasium for the Commodore Quake. Wayne just so happens to currently be the biggest rapper in the world.

Before the lil’ guy known by most for his song “Lollipop” performed, Lupe Fiasco & his sidekick Bishop G hit the stage in front of the sold out crowd. They launched into “Kick, Push” first and a slew of my favorite songs soon followed, like “Sunshine” and “Superstar.” The performance was full of energy and even a somersault.

At one point Lupe addressed the Presidential election saying “Obama is a vote for the future,” and that a “vote for McCain is a vote for the past.” He then segued into “Daydream.” My only disappointment was that the female vocals were tracked.

His set ended abruptly before Lil’ Wayne came on stage with an entourage, which local rap superstar Young Buck was part of. Wayne launched into “Mr. Carter” and the crowd went wild. He continued to rap along with pre-recorded tracks and at one point he also touched on the Presidential election.

My front row stance was priceless, especially since there seemed to be an abundance of underage drinkers at the show. At one point I explored a suite and spotted several Titans singing along with the multi-platinum rapper. Cortland Finnegan was one that seemed to know every word.

Who will come to Vandy next year? My vote is for Beastie Boys.

A lil incognito trip to Tunica~

My bf turned thirty last weekend so we decided to escape with a group of friends to Tunica. We stayed at Harrah’s, which had an awesome casino. That atmosphere was one of the most electric I’ve experienced in a Mississippi casino, with club music and dancing girls.

The boys slapped on mustaches and the girls wigs to add to the fun times. We started the evening off with delicious Kobe steaks and dessert at 37. Then we played the craps table for hours, before dabbling in a little poker.

My pals all walked away down financially, but up in spirits. No doubt, Tunica is a good place to go if you want to get away for a night.

Mercy Lounge benefit for Natalie~

Natalie Evaro touched many Nashvillians with her cheerful spirit and sincere smile. For those who don’t know, the adorable Agave server was involved in a serious car accident last weekend that ultimately led to her passing. She will be missed by many. This benefit will help her family with medical expenses.

Keith Bulluck’s In Vino Verites

A slew of fans and partygoers turned out for Titans’ Keith Bulluck & Nashville Lifestyle Magazine’s In Vino Verites (In Wine There is Truth) Monday night at Sambuca. Titans’ Steve McNair, Vince Young (pictured), Cortland Finnegan, Albert Haynesworth, owner of the Nashville Broncs Scott Lumley (pictured) and celebrities Allison & Jay Demarcus (pictured), as well as actor James Marsden were among those rubbing elbows.

It was a fabulous party, but sadly the wine ran out well before the festivities were over. Fortunately, they were offering up full portions of scrumptious food that pleased my palate.

The event benefited Bulluck’s “Believe and Achieve Foundation” that helps foster kids in Nashville and New Jersey.

Halloween party in the Gulch!

Do you have your Halloween plans made yet Nashville? ‘Cause Agave is where you need to be! The parking lot will be transformed into a Halloween Hell house with all your favorite party peeps.

DJ Chub will provide dance beats, Max Headroom will bring you the best in 80’s music and Kurtis Stanley will be spittin lyrics. There will also be special break dancing performances (my fav).

Heather Byrd and I will be your host and judges of the costume contest. So- come one come all to celebrate the dead! For more info click HERE!

I know it’s Bar 23’s last night, but this way you can do both!

Couture & art take over Creative Spaces~

I mustered up the courage to walk the catwalk last week for Alain Patterson Couture, who was celebrating 20 years in the fashion industry. Kaleidoscope: A Night of Fashion, Art, Music and Photography was held at Creative Spaces (a warehouse that rents rehearsal and studio space on the East side).

Several media divas were a part of the fashion event that kicked off with swimwear by Heather Robinson and ended with couture designs by Alain Patterson. The event was co-hosted by The Music City Fashion Council.

Props to Fergie and her make-up team for making us look pretty and DJ Mindub for providing the beats.

Artwork from Katherine Fowler, Maelstrom Studio, P.J. Anderson and more artist kept guests entertained before the show.

Most of these photos were taken by Steve Harman of 4050 Photo, while the behind the scenes shots and after party pics at Lime were taken by me.

Women Rock For The Cure Is A Pink Success!

In celebration of breast cancer awareness month, SOLID recently held the 2nd annual Women Rock For The Cure event at 3rd & Lindsley Bar and Grill to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The night was full of fabulous singing, laughter and heart touching stories of survival.

The night featured Capitol Nashville recording artist Emily West and songwriters Rachel Proctor (co-wrote Jessica Simpson’s latest hit, Come On Over) and Jessi Alexander (recent cuts by Little Big Town, Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood). Special guests Jon Randall and Bonnie Baker joined the round to play a few tunes and I had the honor of emceeing the evening’s festivities.

The packed crowed sipped on pink cocktails and an aution was held that all benefitted Komen.
The event raised more than $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s Greater Nashville Race For The Cure®.
