Soul legend Isaac Hayes died early Sunday morning, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy responded to Hayes’ home after his wife found him on the floor near a still-running treadmill inside his home.

He was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead just after 2 in the morning.

Hayes who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film “Shaft,” was 65 years old. Most recently, he gained new fans for his portrayal of the character “Chef” on the animated series South Park.
