martina_mcbride_320×240.jpg Oh yes, it’s a little play on words event! Tonight (Monday) the 8th Annual Best Cellars event, known for pairing Best Sellers (country music’s top selling artists) with Best Cellars (Nashville’s top wine collectors) will take over the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

Celebrities Martina McBride, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Clint Black and Bucky Covington are just a few of those committed to attend the dinner.

This is the premier event for the T.J. Martell Foundation.

Joe Rogan: Seen in the City!

joe-rogan.jpg Comedian and actor Joe Rogan hung around Nashville over the weekend. Joe performed at Zanies Comedy Club both Friday and Saturday night. After his show Friday, I ran into the funny man hanging in the V.I.P. at Layl’a Rul.

Most folks were buzzing about saying, “Hey that’s the guy from Fear Factor!” He was very friendly mingling around the club talking with just about everyone.

I did find it interesting that he carried a camera around his neck, very touristy! When I asked why he said, “You never know when you are going to need it.” He then snapped a pic of me. I hope I’m not in one of his stand-up acts now!

Photo: A couple of fans, including Nashville Kyle, struck a pose alongside Joe.

Steve McNair was also hanging in the V.I.P. Friday night.

Local Celeb Stylist on “Split Ends”

bluegrass.jpg One of Nashville’s hairdressers will be appearing on the Style Network’s Split Ends. The show lets a hairstylist from a high-end salon and a stylist from a less expensive salon trade places.

The network chose Nashville’s Trim Classic Barber & Legendary Beauty as the high end spot. I happened to be getting my hair cut when the camera’s rolled in for the first day of the shoot.

Trim owner and stylist, Melanie Shelley cuts, colors and styles for several celebs. She styled Faith Hill’s hair for Kenny Chesney’s birthday bash and when I left on the shoot day, Emmy Lou Harris was her next client. Melanie is considered “first-call” hair and makeup artist for actress Ashley Judd, actress Kerry Washington, 3 Doors Down, and temptress Carmen Electra.

Stylist “Weaven Steven” from America’s Next Top Model ended up being the lucky one Melanie traded spots with. Among the funky do’s Steven styled was American flag extensions on Joanne Cash (Johnny’s sister). He also dressed like Flavor Flav when he showed up and gave the salon employees grillz (for their teeth) as goodbye gifts! Steven paied a visit to Katy K’s, in the show, where he picked up some Nashville dubs.

The camera crew stuck around for about a week and wrapped up the shoot at Layla’s Bluegrass Inn (pictured). Keep your eye out for Melanie, Emmy Lou, several local beauty salon folks and me in the June episode!

Kings on Leno…and Rod’s Daughter?

kimberlystewart.jpg Local rockers Kings of Leon will be making an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Friday. The guys will then hit the road for California and continue across the US for a their tour.

Gossip blogger Perezhilton recently reported that Mischa Barton was denied access backstage at the Kings concert in London. He quoted a backstage source saying, “”Kimberly Stewart is dating Caleb [Followill, lead singer of Kings of Leon].” “And he thought it’d be a good idea to keep Mischa far away.”

Apparently a few years ago Stewart was engaged to Cisco Adler, who until recently was dating Barton. Got that?

We have a call in to the Kings’ publicist.

Carrie, Nicole, Reese and Sheryl Among Most Beautiful!

reese_new_style.jpg People magazine is about to reveal 2007’s 100 most beautiful people. Several local beauties are among the stars given the coveted title; Reese Witherspoon, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Nicole Kidman.

Below you can read what some of the gals had to say:

Reese Witherspoon:
“Some people are effortlessly glamorous and sexy,” the actress, 31, has told PEOPLE. “For me, a lot of that stuff is difficult.” Still, her skin-care regimen sounds pretty easy: “I just wear a lot of sunscreen. That’s it. Nothing more. I’m just lucky my grandma gave me great skin.”

Carrie Underwood:
“I had a couple of freckles on my face that I didn’t like, so I had them removed,” admits the 24-year-old country star. “And I remember one kid said, ‘Now I can’t play connect-the-dots on your face anymore!’ I’ll never forget that.”

Drew Barrymore graces the cover of the mag. that hits store shelves Friday. Congrats ladies!

Norah Plays The Basement!

base4.jpg
Norah Jones will play to a sold out house tonight at the Ryman Auditorium, but last night she popped into a much more intimate venue. Norah stopped in The Basement on 8th Avenue.

The Dave Rawlings Machine and Gillian Welch took the stage at midnight, but at about 12:45 the Grammy Award winner took center stage between the two. Norah sang two or three songs, one of them a Townes Van Zandt cover.

Nearly 200 people (that’s a lot for the small venue) had the honor of being at her unannounced performance. There were rumors Elton John would attend as well, but he was a no show. However, rocker Meg White (White Stripes) and M. Ward (Norah’s opening act tonight) were in attendance!

Those at the show say Norah seemed very ‘at home’ hanging at a table for five. She stuck around until about 3:30 this morning!

Last time Norah came to Nashville she played the Grand Ole Opry House.

Kid Rock: Seen in the City

kidrock.jpg From my entertainment partner Brad on 2 :

OK, so this isn’t a huge shock since Kid Rock owns a condo off West End Avenue.

Still, it was kind of a thrill for some folks on the Demonbreun strip of bars and clubs to spot him early this morning.

Yes, he was in one of his trademark hats.

He left in a big ol’ red Dodge Ram, with bodyguard behind the wheel, shortly after midnight.

Bucky’s #1 & Sending Fans to the Hospital!

buckycmtawards-007.jpg American Idol finalist Bucky Covington is so hot folks are fainting! He is also blowing up the charts.

Bucky’s debut CD opens at #1 on the country chart. His CD also enters Nielsen Soundscan’s all genre top 200 chart at #4 and is the only new country act to open inside the top five this year.

With 61,000 units sold in the first week, Bucky is not only 2007’s biggest unit debut from a new country artist, but also the best first week sales and highest Top 200 debut for any new male country artist since Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.

At a recent Wal-Mart instore in Fayetteville, NC, Bucky signed copies of his self-titled debut CD for eager fans until 1:30am. A group dressed for prom stopped by and another women had to be taken to the hospital after fainting in line. Shwoo! Where is the water?
