Mellencamp Rocks The Stage!

johncougar121.jpg Equity Music Group through a big ole party Tuesday night. Little Big Town played The Stage (honky tonk on Broadway) and they were honored for one million records sold. It’s been a year since the group re-launched and it’s working!

They played a few songs, just before veteran rocker John Mellencamp jumped on stage and joined them, and of course they played Our Country.
I was front row and center and loved every minute of it!

LBT opened several show for Mellencamp last year. The group can also be heard on his new release, Freedom’s Road.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Dead?

tobykeithbmi.jpg Toby Keith celebrated his 50 millionth performance airplay milestone at BMI Tuesday. 50 million performances add up to more than 285 years of continuous airplay!

BMI’s lobby was packed with music industry insiders that support the rebellious country star. Fried bologna sandwiches, peach cobbler and the like were served. His BMI awards hung on chicken wire and cowboy boots decorated the tables. Drinks were served in a mason jar!

In a press conference Toby stated that rock ‘n’ roll is dead. He compared rock and roll to a religion that is now gone, because it’s morphed into specific categories. He says meantime country has stayed it’s course.

Wednesday night Toby headlines CRS’s Music City Jam. I’m told to expect some big surprise names!

Toby has sold over 30 million albums and has remained BDS Nielson’s most-played country artist every year since 2003.

I love rock ‘n’ roll! Do you think it’s really dead?

Party Pic’s!

stephaniebartender.jpg I love Oscar night at The Belcourt…everyone gets dressed up, there are delicious hors d’oeuvres, a fabulous silent auction and all the proceeds go to saving the coolest theatre in town. Pictured are a few of my favorite dressed folks! Stephanie (in white/silver) donned a 20 pound dress with mirrors, so appropriate since she works at Mirror.

One of my favorite activities at this year’s Oscar party was getting my caricature done! Click the link to see it! Adam Dread got one also.

Welcome Radio Folks!

jbj7.jpg Over a thousand radio professionals are in town this week for the Country Radio Seminar. The seminar gives country labels and vendors the opportunity to roll out their new products to radio. CRS has been a staple here for 38 years. This years highlights will include two research presentations by Edison Research: a review of Hispanic attitudes towards Country radio and Country music, and a large scale study of loyal country radio listeners. The seminar provides networking opportunities and showcases some of Country music’s best talent. The Keynote address will feature rock star Jon Bon Jovi!

tk.jpgThere are a slew of stars in town for the event. I’m headed out the door to celebrate Toby Keith’s “50 millionth performance airplay milestone” and later tonight Kenny Rogers will be presented the CRB Career Achievement Award.

Sara Evans’ Divorce Heats Up Again…

sevans.jpg
Sara Evans says in court documents that her soon-to-be-ex-hubby, Craig Schelske, has threatened to unleash his lawyers on her if she doesn’t go on television and take back all her original accusations.

You might recall that Sara said Craig committed adultery and was heavily into pornography when she first filed for divorce. Craig vehemently denied it, and now, Sara says he’s insisting she retract it all publicly and fire her lawyer, John Hollins Sr., before he’ll sit down to negotiate.

“He told me that if I chose to keep Mr. Hollins Sr. as my attorney, he would be forced to ‘take me down with Mr. Hollins,’ ” Sara said in an affidavit filed Friday.

Craig’s lawyer, Anne L. Russell, fired back in a letter: “Our client has nothing to do with his wife’s choice of agents or employees, nor has he demanded such actions as alleged.”

His lawyer further wrote: “These allegations have as much credibility as the ones in Ms. Evans’ Complaint for Divorce.”

The Ville Celebrates the Gold Statue!

goreoscar.jpg Yes, Nashville knows how to celebrate the Oscars. Belle Meade resident and former VP Al Gore was in the spotlight Sunday night. Host Ellen Degeneres poked fun of him, he presented with Leonardo Dicaprio (pretending to announce a run for presidency) and An Inconvenient Truth won best documentary. While technically the director walked away with the statue, Gore received a standing ovation at Belcourt Theatre (my local party of choice). Thanks Mister Gore for helping the world become a better place!

kidoscar.jpg Nicole Kidman looked stunning as she walked the red carpet in her long red dress, when asked about Keith Urban she replied that he was backstage. The two were seen later sitting cute as could be during the awards and Kidman couldn’t have looked more gorgeous when presenting.

Reese Witherspoon may have been one of the last presenters, but her new do and confident attitude was definitely worth staying up for.
