Mellencamp Rocks The Stage!
Equity Music Group through a big ole party Tuesday night. Little Big Town played The Stage (honky tonk on Broadway) and they were honored for one million records sold. It’s been a year since the group re-launched and it’s working!
They played a few songs, just before veteran rocker John Mellencamp jumped on stage and joined them, and of course they played Our Country.
I was front row and center and loved every minute of it!
LBT opened several show for Mellencamp last year. The group can also be heard on his new release, Freedom’s Road.

Toby Keith celebrated his 50 millionth performance airplay milestone at BMI Tuesday. 50 million performances add up to more than 285 years of continuous airplay!
I love Oscar night at The Belcourt…everyone gets dressed up, there are delicious hors d’oeuvres, a fabulous silent auction and all the proceeds go to saving the coolest theatre in town. Pictured are a few of my favorite dressed folks! Stephanie (in white/silver) donned a 20 pound dress with mirrors, so appropriate since she works at Mirror.
Over a thousand radio professionals are in town this week for the Country Radio Seminar. The seminar gives country labels and vendors the opportunity to roll out their new products to radio. CRS has been a staple here for 38 years. This years highlights will include two research presentations by Edison Research: a review of Hispanic attitudes towards Country radio and Country music, and a large scale study of loyal country radio listeners. The seminar provides networking opportunities and showcases some of Country music’s best talent. The Keynote address will feature rock star Jon Bon Jovi!
There are a slew of stars in town for the event. I’m headed out the door to celebrate Toby Keith’s “50 millionth performance airplay milestone” and later tonight Kenny Rogers will be presented the CRB Career Achievement Award.

Oprah Winfrey’s crew is in Nashville and they are looking for those who want to make a difference in peoples’ lives. ABC and Harpo Productions announce a new alternative primetime series Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give (working title). In this eight-episode show, 10 people will be challenged to take the money and resources they are given and multiply them to create the most powerful, sensational, emotional and dramatic ways to give to others.
Yes, Nashville knows how to celebrate the Oscars. Belle Meade resident and former VP Al Gore was in the spotlight Sunday night. Host Ellen Degeneres poked fun of him, he presented with Leonardo Dicaprio (pretending to announce a run for presidency) and An Inconvenient Truth won best documentary. While technically the director walked away with the statue, Gore received a standing ovation at Belcourt Theatre (my local party of choice). Thanks Mister Gore for helping the world become a better place!
Nicole Kidman looked stunning as she walked the red carpet in her long red dress, when asked about Keith Urban she replied that he was backstage. The two were seen later sitting cute as could be during the awards and Kidman couldn’t have looked more gorgeous when presenting.
We may not be Hollywood, but there is always something fun to do in Nashvegas! If you are looking to watch the Oscars head over to the Belcourt Theatre. Nashville’s finest will get dressed up, walk the red carpet and you can’t beat the big ole movie screen!
If you haven’t heard Jypsi go check them out! The band (all family members) plays six days a week at Layla’s Bluegrass Inn on Broadway, the same place they were signed to RCA. Friday night they are taking a few steps out the back door to the Ryman stage for the Grand Ole Opry!
