OOPS…WOB

britney-spears30.jpg This has not been Britney Spears’ year! From her divorce and late night adventures to criticism of the pop star’s parenting skills, now WORLDOFBRITNEY.COM is closing.

The man who ran the site, Ruben Grey, had this to say:

As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is WoB. We’re moving on to greater, bigger things.

I think that WoB has had its run…….its feet are not holding firm anymore, not because of my ability to run it, but because I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it’s very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going, so in turn, I’m trying to be a step ahead of it, and yes, for those of you laughing and remembering what happened in March of 2002, this time, it will be for good :) WoB will continue to provide its daily updates to fans up until it’s time to say goodbye. We look forward to continuing to report news on Britney, it just won’t be exclusive about her anymore. Thanks for your attention and a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have been visiting the site since the beginning and supported WoB through it all ! It’s been a total blast.

Dishing the Dirt!

amanda.jpg When local girl Amanda Wyatt alleged she had an affair with Keith Urban (supposedly during Urban’s engagement to Nicole Kidman) people began dishing her dirt.

First Wyatt’s underwear photo-shoot surfaced and now she is facing criminal charges.

Amanda Wyatt is scheduled to appear in Davidson County Criminal Court to face an aggravated assault charge stemming from a bar fight at On The Rocks. The local party girl was also arrested and charged with aggravated assault in 2003 from a fight at Bar Nashville.

Keith and Nicole Reunite!

reunite.jpg
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have reunited, just days after a local women claimed she’d had a long-running affair with the country music star. According to the AP, Urban completed treatment for alcohol abuse and the two are in Kidman’s hometown of Sydney.

UPDATE: “Keith is on a leave in Australia to be with his family during the holidays,” publicist Keith Freundlich said in a statement. “This is a natural occurrence at this point in his treatment. He will continue with his rehab upon his return.”

The Australian country singer checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center in October, with Kidman by his side.

There are reports that Urban flew into Sydney on Tuesday and cameras caught the couple holding hands as they left the United International Pictures office Wednesday. The couple said nothing to the media as they walked to the car. Now we wait on Australia’s most famous couple’s return to music city!

UPDATE: More info on local girl, Amanda Wyatt is surfacing. Wyatt is the 23 year old who released descriptive details about Keith Urban cheating on Nicole to a UK Newspaper earlier this week. You can check out her underwear photoshoot here http://splashnewsonline.blogspot.com/.

Kid Rock Spends Christmas With the Troops!

kid_rock_pg.jpg

Kid Rock is once again visiting U.S. military personnel stationed in the Middle East. His itinerary had him spending Christmas alongside troops currently serving in both Kuwait and Iraq.

“This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq. I could be spending Christmas with my family, but in my heart I know this is the right thing to do - not only for our men and women in service, but also to set an unselfish example for my son and send a strong message to the world to be thankful and think of others at Christmas time,” said Kid Rock.

The Godfather of Soul…

JAMES BROWN.jpg The man that helped shape rock, rap and soul music passed away Christmas morning. At 73 years old, James Brown was true to his title as the hardest working man in show business. He was scheduled to perform on New Year’s Eve in New York City. Doctors say heart failure is the cause of death for the music legend. A friend says Brown’s last words were “I’m going away.”

I had the honor of meeting Brown about five years ago in Las Vegas. I was late to see his concert and they turned us away at the door, due to a sold-out house. We were bummed and returned to our hotel to play a little Black Jack. Not long later, Brown strolled in with his posse and took a seat right beside our table. We said “Hello,” shook hands and played side-by-side for at least an hour.

During his career, James Brown spent quite a bit of time in music city. His long time saxophone player, Waldo Weathers still lives in Nashville.

A public funeral for Brown has been set for Saturday in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia. A private service will be held for family and friends Friday. Members of the public will be able to view Brown’s body at the Apollo Theater in New York on Thursday.

Remembering A Nashville Songwriter

HOFDennisLinde.jpg Nashville songwriter Dennis Linde died Friday of a rare lung disease. Linde wrote a number of hits including Elvis Presley’s “Burning Love” and “Goodbye Earl” recorded by Dixie Chicks.

Linde’s family is planning a New Orleans styled funeral after the new year. He was 63 years old.
